DIY Pressure Points!

Have you ever been in the moment where you're having major pain and you can’t get in for a massage but really need the relief. Well we are here to help and share some tricks from the  Massage therapy world that will be useful to relieve tension and pain through pressure point techniques. Here are some key pressure points that can help with relief:

1. Neck & Shoulder Tension

  • Gallbladder 20 (GB20) – "Wind Pool"

    • Location: At the base of the skull, in the hollows on either side of the spine.

    • Relief for: Headaches, neck stiffness, stress, and fatigue.

    • Massage technique: Apply firm, circular pressure with your thumbs for 30–60 seconds.

2. Headache & Stress Relief

  • LI4 (Hegu) – "Hand Valley Point"

    • Location: Between the thumb and index finger.

    • Relief for: Headaches, migraines, stress, and facial pain.

    • Massage technique: Apply deep, steady pressure for 30 seconds, then release.

3. Lower Back Pain

  • B23 (Kidney Shu) – "Sea of Vitality"

    • Location: About two finger-widths from the spine, at waist level.

    • Relief for: Lower back pain and fatigue.

    • Massage technique: Use your thumbs or knuckles to apply firm pressure in circular motions.

4. Foot & Leg Fatigue

  • LV3 (Tai Chong) – "Great Rushing"

    • Location: On the top of the foot, between the first and second toe bones.

    • Relief for: Stress, anxiety, foot pain, and insomnia.

    • Massage technique: Use your thumb to press and knead the area for 30 seconds.

5. Overall Relaxation & Anxiety Relief

  • PC6 (Neiguan) – "Inner Gate"

    • Location: About three finger-widths below the wrist, between the two tendons.

    • Relief for: Nausea, stress, and anxiety.

    • Massage technique: Apply gentle but firm pressure for 30–60 seconds.
