Feeling Sick? Here’s Why You Should Reschedule Your Massage Appointment
At A Better Body Massage, your health and comfort are our top priorities. We know how much you look forward to your massage. It's your time to unwind, recharge, and take care of yourself. But if you’re feeling under the weather, the best thing you can do for yourself (and for us) is to reschedule your appointment.
Here’s why and what to do if you’re sick before your session.
Why You Should Cancel or Reschedule If You’re Sick
Massage Can Worsen Cold or Flu Symptoms
When your body is fighting an illness, your immune system is already hard at work. A massage increases circulation and lymphatic movement great when you’re healthy, but if you’re sick, it can actually spread the virus through your system faster and leave you feeling worse.Your Body Needs Rest, Not Stimulation
Massage is a form of physical stress (even though it feels good!). If you’re running a fever, coughing, or battling congestion, rest and hydration are what your body needs most to heal quickly.Protecting Our Therapists & Other Clients
We work closely with clients all day, so germs spread easily. If you come in sick, your therapist and everyone after you could catch what you have. Canceling helps keep everyone healthy and ensures we can continue providing care for all our clients. It’s the Courteous Thing to Do
We understand that life happens and sickness can strike suddenly. Giving us a heads-up as soon as you realize you’re not well allows us to adjust our schedule and offer your appointment time to someone on our waiting list.
What to Do If You Wake Up Sick Before Your Massage
Call or text us right away to let us know you’re not feeling well. We’ll happily reschedule your appointment for when you’re better.
Don’t worry about cancellation fees if you’re genuinely sick, we don't charge the cancellation fee. Your health is more important.
Wait at least 24 hours after symptoms have passed before coming in for your next session, especially if you’ve had a fever, stomach bug, or respiratory illness.
When You’re Feeling Better
Once you’ve recovered, a massage can be a wonderful way to support your immune system and help your body bounce back. Massage helps improve circulation, reduce stress, and promote better sleep all things your body needs after being sick.
